CDC promotes HIV awareness - News

"Changing health behaviors may require more than scary statistics to motivate people to act.

In an effort to stave off the spread of HIV and AIDS, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention is teaming up with local media to get its message across. As part of Act Against AIDS, a five-year communication campaign to reduce HIV incidence in the United States, the CDC is hosting round-table discussions across the country."

Research Shows Treating HIV-AIDS With Interleukin-2 Is Ineffective

"An international research team has demonstrated that treating HIV-AIDS with interleukin-2 (IL-2) is ineffective. As a result, the researchers recommend that clinical trials on this compound be stopped. Their finding was published in the New England Journal of Medicine in an article co-authored by 14 researchers, including Dr. Jean-Pierre Routy of the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC)."

Wider Use Of Pfizer’s HIV Drug Recommended | Latest Newspaper Headlines | Current Events

"Despite concern from several panel members, a U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advisory panel is recommending wider use of Pfizer Inc.'s HIV drug Selzentry in certain patients who have the disease.

Pfizer is seeking U. S. approval for marketing Selzentry to be taken with other anti-retroviral drugs for HIV patients with a specific type of HIV-1, one of the two strains of human immunodeficiency virus responsible for causing AIDS, and who have not tried any medications, so far."
