FDA Warns Of Heart Problems When Combining HIV Drugs

The Food & Drug Administration is warning about dangerous heart problems that can occur when two HIV drugs are used together.

The drugs are Roche Holding's Invirase and Abbott Labs' Norvir.

The FDA is adding a warning label to the drugs because combining them could cause an abnormal heart rhythm.

In some cases, the condition could lead to a deadly irregular heartbeat.

SEXUAL HEALTH AND HIV/AIDS CONFERENCES IN TOWN THIS WEEK

Over a thousand delegates from Australia and the Asia Pacific region will gather in Sydney from today for this year’s Australasian Sexual Health Conference, followed by the Australasian HIV/AIDS Conference which runs from October 20 to 22.

The conferences are on at the Darling Harbour Convention and Exhibition Centre and will be attended by frontline medical and allied health professionals, researchers, policy makers, scientists and members of communities here and abroad directly affected by sexual health and HIV issues.
